Partake in a day of hands-on culinary and relaxing delights.
In the morning you will visit the Pennsylvania School of Technology in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where in 2009 tour goers experienced a day of chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate! This time our master chef will engage you in a celebration of pasta. You will learn the history, styles, and recipes for both pasta and sauces. Then you will be divided into teams to actually make your own pasta. Lunch will feature the pastas and sauces you learned during your class. Then it’s off for a tour of the school itself. Affiliated with Pennsylvania State University, the School of Technology’s School of Hospitality/Culinary Arts program is a bastion for academic majors that lead to rewarding careers in the food and hospitality industry. Following your tour you will have lunch at Le Juene Chef, the school’s teaching restaurant. Decorated in a neo-classic and elegant style, Le Juene Chef promises you a fine dining experience. It has been the recipient of Wine Spectator magazine’s “Best of Award of Excellence” for several years, and students who have practiced their skills in the restaurant have been selected for competition in the International Culinary Olympics.
After lunch you will travel to Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, where you will visit the workshop of Jessica, an artisan soap maker who hand-crafts deliciously scented gourmet soaps made with unique ratios of olive, coconut, palm, and castor oils. Here you will see and smell all of her wonderful creations with names such as Cocoa Mint, Espresso Truffle, Tea Tree and Clay, Vanilla Bean, and Chamomile Baby. You will hear how grocery store soap isn’t soap at all, but rather a detergent bar created by chemicals and machines and the aromatherapeutic benefits of scent options. Then its hands-on time again as you create your own personal bath salts.
Your day concludes at a family owned Amish/Mennonite dry goods store and country market established by Gary and Cathy Smith in 1991. Here you will have the opportunity to purchase their home grown and other locally grown produce. Not to be surpassed is the bakery famous for its homemade pies, breads, and cookies. Among the many seasonal selections are Blue Ribbon Peanut Butter Torte, sticky buns, Snickerdoodles, shoefly pie, and whole wheat bread made with fresh ground wheat. Each of you will receive a complimentary whoopee pie.

Tour includes deluxe motorcoach transportation, services of professional tour guide, lunch, and all taxes and gratuities per itinerary.
