Usher in your holiday season with a Victorian Christmas by the sea.
Nothing can be more magical then immersing yourself in the sights and sounds, work and play of a 19th-Century Christmas celebration at Mystic Seaport, Connecticut.
You will have the opportunity to board historic vessels and hear stories directly from sailors’ journals that will give you insight into their Christmases on board ship and learn of these seafarers’ loneliness during the holidays.  There will also be hands-on activities that will give you an authentic glimpse into Christmases past.
Founded in 1929 and covering nineteen acres, Mystic Seaport attracts more than 300,000 people annually, and, as the Yuletide holiday approaches, this “Kingdom By the Sea” transforms itself into a dazzling cornucopia of wreaths, evergreens, and Christmas trees whose every bough is laden with ornaments made of shells from the sea.
A highlight of Mystic Seaport is strolling through the streets of a re-created coastal village comprised of more than thirty New England trade shops and businesses from the 1800s.  The crown jewel is the Charles W. Morgan, America’s last surviving wooden whaling ship.  Built in 1841 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966, her whaling career ended in 1921.
In the evening you will be led on a lantern-lit tour.  Your journey will tell the story of Christmas Eve 1876 and take you through a dramatic performance across the seaport with a cast of seventy actors.  Among the activities on your evening sojourn will be watching a lively tavern dance and taking a horse-drawn carriage ride - but the biggest enjoyment of the evening will be finding the real magic of the holidays and knowing that if you believe hard enough, miracles really do happen.

The tour includes motor coach transportation, admission to Mystic Seaport, lantern-lit tour, and all taxes and gratuities per itinerary.
